Nokia has come under some pressure as the world's largest mobile
phone manufacturer, to continue to innovate and yet hold market share.
Sometimes it is difficult to do both as the mass market consumers may
not actually want, nor can they afford, innovative technology.
Because of this, Nokia have cleverly grouped their mobile phones into various collections, with the N Series being the premium range where you will find the top end cameras and feature packed smart phones. The E Series is the business collection, with communicator style phones and Mobiles reminiscent of the Blackberry email phones.
The X Series is a relatively new addition to the Nokia set, launched in 2009 with two phones, both aimed at the consumer who wants a reasonable all round phone but with enhanced music capabilities. Previously this market was catered for by Nokia with their 'Comes With Music' range, but as the music download service was extended across a wider range of phones the X Series collection was announced.
The Nokia X2 is the latest in the X Series collection and is a solid candy bar style mobile phone with a 2.2 inch screen and a keypad and 5 way directional key below.
Top of the list of features is the music player which includes dedicated keys down the side of the phone to control the music player, dual speakers and an FM stereo radio which includes a built in antenna, so no need to use headphones when you want to listen to the radio, as you would with many other mobile phones. Built in memory is not huge at 48 MB, but is easily expandable with microSD cards up to 16 gigabytes, enough to store plenty of tracks.
The aforementioned Comes With Music is also included in selected regions. This service allows unlimited music downloads from Nokia's music store, and you can keep the downloaded songs for ever.
The X2 is not just a music orientated mobile however. The 5 megapixel camera with LED flash (which also works as a torch) and zoom means you can capture a picture wherever you have your phone and there is built in easy uploads to social networking sites (you can access Facebook straight from the home screen). The camera will also record video and there is a dedicated camera key.
For those consumers looking for a good all round mobile, with added emphasis on music the Nokia X2 must be worthy of serious consideration.
